He fell in love with football and with Sporting Clube de Portugal (SCP) in the time of the 5 Violins, entering SCP at the age of 15 and being international capped on Portugal youth squads, being part of the squad that reached 3rd place in the EuroCup of 1960 (youths). He made his debut on SCP first tem, where he would play his entire career, on the 13th December 1961 for a Portugal Cup game agains Cova da Piedade that SCP won 5-1. During that time until 1973 he play 12 seasons in a row for SCP, playing 240 official games scoring for 2 times. He won 2 National Championships, 3 Portuguese Cups and was part of the squad that won the Cups Winners Cups. For the National Team he played 9 times (3 of them during this season).
