He was captain and left side of the Chilean team that ranked third in the World 1962. He was also part of the Ballet Azul called the club Universidad de Chile in the 60s. He also played for the Union Española. Initially, Navarro tried to play as left attacker, but their natural conditions (high, strong at the crossing and with good physique) led to the then cadets coach Luis Zorro Alamos places him in the defense, starting to play at left - , which remain in place ever since.
