Even by his own previous manager – George Graham. Keown came through the ranks at Arsenal, and made 22 appearances initially, but was sold, and had successful stints at Aston Villa and Everton before returning to Arsenal in 1993 for £2million, providing competition with Steve Bould for the spot next to Tony Adams. Keown made his biggest impact while under Arsene Wenger, and has, bar Kolo Toure, featured more times than any other centre-back for the Frenchman. Keown was impressive in Arsene Wenger’s first double, strengthening his partnership with Tony Adams, and in 1998-99, was part of the defence that only conceded 17 goals. Arsene said recently that Keown was a lot better technically than both he, and viewers thought, describing him as not only a great defender, but a good footballer. Keown’s, somewhat like Adams, abilities were masked at times as his forceful style would give off the impression of a lack of composure, pace or ability on the ball. Although Keown was never a sprinter, he was able to make impressive recovery tackles. Keown made a total of 333 appearances for Arsenal, winning 6 trophies (he was cup-tied for the FA Cup + League Cup double), and 43 England caps. _________________ GoonerLover66 wrote: PMC wrote: I know that Gooner, S-Jsomething and somebody else don't like me but pls play fair :( That's news to me, I've always liked you.
