During his career, Jaime Pacheco was always a player marked by injuries, being very unfortunate in that department, either when he was representing Sporting CP, in which he spent a long time injured, or serving for FC Porto. Indeed, during his second run for this club, Jaime Pacheco suffered a serious injury (rupture of the cruciate ligament of the knee) early in the 2nd round of the championship on the season of 1986/87, that prevented this from being in the final of the European Champions Cup and participate in the achievements of the European Super Cup and the Intercontinental Cup the following season. The date for the European Club Competitions, Jaime Pacheco made 35 games and marked only 2 goals. For the National Team, Jaime Pacheco had a total of 25 caps. The first one occurred on February 23rd of 1983 at the Estádio do Restelo in Lisbon, against Germany (1-0 victory). The farewell took place on September 12th of 1990 in Helsinki, Finland, in front of Finland (0-0 tie). Following the sad incidents in Saltillo, in the World Cup in Mexico in 1986, Jaime Pacheco was absent from the selection for 4 years, returning in 1990, precisely to dispute his 25th and final game with the Portuguese national shirt. Like other players who were deprived of their contribution to the National Team, Jaime Pacheco was also impaired by this absence, when we was undisputedly in the starting 11 of the NT. Close to completing 36 years of age at the end of the 1993/94 season, Jaime Pacheco put an end to a beautiful career of 14 years, throughout in which, thanks to its class football, professional pride and competitive spirit, managed to gain admiration and respect of fans and lovers of football. _________________ My heart only has one colour: Blue and White!!''
