He reached 50 caps in his National Squad and was also in the World Cup of 1998 and the Euro Cup of 1996. He was, above all, a tireless fighter, main quality who helped him to overcome the issues of a serious crar crash and the ones of a complicated desease. He started his career in a small club of his home city, but it was on Lokomotiv Gorna where Sporting Clube de Portugal (SCP) found him, after getting to be the top scorer of his country. At SCP, he would confirm his skills as a good player, scoring 70 goals in 222 games played troughout 10 seasons, earning the respect and admiration of all, for his professionalism and humble posture, contributting to the conquest of one National Championship, one Portuguese Cup and the Portuguese Supercup. He had his glory day in 10th June of 1995 where he scored twice in SCP victory over Maritimo in the Portuguse Cup Final, putting end to a non-winning streak in this cup of 13 years. In the 1998/99 season, after Oceano retired, he became the first non-portuguse Captain of SCP, and even if was not a regular presence in the startin eleven, he was part of the squad which, in the following season, ended the non-winning streak of 18 years without tasting the flavour of victory in the National Championship. During the celebrations of that title, he was climbed up to the statue of Marquês de Pombal to put a scarf on the Lion statue of that monument, and this moment was the most emblematic moment of that waiting of 18 years. In this specific season which may be consided his peek, Yordanov was a very solid team player. He ran a lot always giving passing lines to his comrades, he didn't possess great technical skills as a show off but was smart and pretty all the times did the correct choice while playing. He was competent in the air and tried to defend as a 1st line defender. As previous said, defending positions were not strange to him, even if he played practically all the times as a genuine striker.
