The grunt work was shared with Maszczyk, but Kaperczak was excpected also to bring some craft to the build up of attacks and ensure a quick recovery if the play was reversed. Started off as a teenager with hometown club Stal Zabrze making 145 appearences with 8 goals. As a promising young player he was eventually snatched by Legia Warszawa but ended up spending two seasons on the reserves making few inroads onto the first team, learning from the wealth of talent at the club and improving overall as a player. Was deemed to be lacking proper talent and was allowed to join then insignificant club Stal Mielec in 1968. By 1973 they won their first title, in 1976 their second. The rise of the club coincided with the emergence of three key players in Kasperczak, Lato, and Domarski. It was due to his performances in the championship year that made Gorski give him his first international cap in 1973, public reaction intially though was one of shock for such a limited player to get a cap, but his bustling energy and aggresivness in all quarters eventually convinced public opinion otherwise and came to be regarded as a master stroke by Gorski, with Kasperczak solidifying his place in the national setup for the next five years. Kasperczak finally left the club in 1978 after making 345 appearences and scoring 23 times. He had one last season in the France with Metz before retiring. Appeared 61 times for Poland scoring 5 times, claiming Silver in the 1976 Olympics. Henryk KASPERCZAK | 1973-1974 | PES Stats Database (Golden Era Backup)
