It is said that in several ocasions he covered for National first keeper as he was missing a lot of games, ending with a clean sheet some of the times. He could play almost any possition in the field, living up to the teams expectations, proving that he was a true leader on the pitch. He's remembered as one of Uruguay's best players evers, as he can't be boxed into definitions like forward, midfielder, or defender, yet, he was all of them altogether.
