As a player he won the Argentine championship with three different teams. Fanesi started his career with Deportivo Armenio before joining Rosario Central in 1968, he was part of their championship winning squad in the 1971 Nacional. In 1973 he moved to Club Atlético Huracán where he was part of the 1973 Metropolitano winning team. He played with the club until 1977.
