He was a member of the Dutch team that won the European title at the 1988 European Football Championship in West Germany under manager Rinus Michels. Suvrijn made his debut for Holland on April 29, 1986, in a friendly match against Scotland (0-0) as a replacement for Michel Valke. During his professional career Suvrijn played for Fortuna Sittard (1981-86), Roda JC (1986-89) and in France, for Montpellier HSC (1989-93).
