He played as an inside-forward on the right side, but he also occasionally played as center-forward or winger (he was mostly used as winger in national team). He won 3 national championships and he played in ECC Finals in 1966, with Partizan. During his club career he scored 319 goals in 487 games for Partizan Belgrade. He won 2 Player of the Year Awards in Yugoslavia (in 1962/1963 and in 1964/1965). He scored 11 goals in 18 games in European Champions Cup. He was a member of national team that won 4. place in 1962 World Cup, played in Chile. He is especially known by his playmaking and goalscoring abilities. Because of his great organizational skills and his calculated playing he was given nickname ''Poslovođa'' (roughly translated, his nickname in English would be ''The Accountant''). He was the heart of Partizan's team in early to mid '60s. Most of the attacks started with his passes and quite a few of them finished with his goals.
