During much of his career at Spurs, Marchi was mostly used as an understudy to the great Ron Burgess then later Danny Blanchflower and Dave Mackay. In between he was captain and played left half. However, in the 1962-63 following injuries he established himself in the side and was a member of the 1963 UEFA Cup Winners' Cup Final winning team. He was one of seventeen players used by Spurs in their Double winning side of 1960-61 He also later managed Cambridge City and Northampton Town.
