He moved from Swansea Town to Tottenham Hotspur for £25,000 in May 1956, and played there until 1963 when a broken leg that forced his early retirement. During this period he scored 72 goals in 215 matches in all competitions and helped the club win The Double in 1961 and the FA Cup in 1962. Medwin was a speedy winger with skill and an opportunist. He also represented Wales in the 1958 FIFA World Cup, scoring the game-winning goal in the first round play-off which sent Wales to the quarterfinals.
