He appeared in two FA Cups for United in 1976 (losing) and 1977 (winning) and also won an FA Cup winning medal with West Ham in 1980. Pearson was always available for a pass and when he got the ball his control was deft or he would lay it off first time or use his searing pace to go past people, his finishing sometimes let him down though he did pack a fierce shot, he was difficult to mark and along with Jimmy Greenhoff - his perfect partner- he posed problems for defenders. He rankled at being called injury prone, however he did miss almost all of the 1978/79 season after a series of knee operations. He regained fitness but did not accept the 1 year contract given to him by manager Dave Sexton and he was gone, United had lost another hero of the all too brief excellent mid 70's side, Daly, Hill and now Pearson. He moved to West Ham but despite winning an FA Cup medal his career was further hampered by injury. He won 15 caps for England and scored 5 goals He scored 66 goals in 180 appearance for United.
