During his career, Marcos played for Universidad de Chile, Palestino and the Chile national football team,[1] and took part in the 1966 FIFA World Cup (where he scored two goals)[2] and the South American Championship 1967 This left player use initially the inside right posotion of the ''blue'' attack and then with the years established itself as a midfielder with great covering, attack and so much goal. As a footballer was indefatigable athlete, plifuntional midfielder nicknamed ''El siete pulmones'' (''The Seven Lungs'') for his remarkable endurance and eternal struggle in the court. It was a crack in the 60s playing for the club Universidad de Chile as part of the mythical ''Blue Ballet'' and was the best player in the Chilean '66 Qualifiers England at the World Cup England 66 and in America Cup 1967. Despite being very technically doted, he was constantly sacrificed for his extraordinary ability to neutralize opponents midfielders. Besides defending, was an excellent ball retriever, creator of moves, passes and also goal scorer, with powerful shots and headers. Ruben scored the goal against Ecuador, who qualified for England 1966 Chile World Cup and then scored two goals in that tournament with Chile NT. The first is materialized in the 1-1 draw with North Korea for PK and the second in the 2-1 defeat by the Soviet Union. In the Copa America 67 (Uruguay) , the Uruguayan press called him the most important player engine ''best Chilean team of all time'', although Chile has reached only third in the championship.
