He was first a defensive side back, good at marking even sometimes seen as violent but with an excellent capacity to get back the ball. One of the last players of Santos Golden Era, with Pelé, Pepe, Coutinho, Clodoaldo and many others, in career (1959–1977) played with Íbis, Sport Recife, Botafogo,Santos Futebol Club and among with Pelé at New York Cosmos in US that won the 1977 Soccer Bowl Championship Played one season each with the Cleveland Cobras, the Los Angeles Sunshine and the LA Lazers (1978-1980). Three time winner of Săo Paulo State ChampionshipCaptained the Team that won(1967, 1968, 1969) and two time winner Rio de Janeiro State Championship (1961, 1962).
