He became the sytlish template for sweepers in the Italian National team and without whom the Italian game would not have produced the great Gaetano Scirea. Cera was stalwart for Cagliari alongside Albertosi and Riva and played in the World Cup 1970 Finals series alongside Faccetti, Burgnich, Rosato in Mexico where Italy finished as runners up. He was also a key part in the talented Cagliari squad which gained promotion to Serie A in 1964-1965 and with the likes of Riva, Albertosi and Domenghini won the Scudetto in 1970 losing only two games. Albertosi, Riva and Domenghini would join Cera in Mexico in 1970. Cera also played for Verona, and Cessana and gained 18 caps. Pierluigi CERA | 1969-1970 | PES Stats Database (Golden Era Backup)
