''Good morning God,'' was how Arsenal's players greeted goalkeeper Pat Jennings during the great Irishman's reign as the teams undisputed number one in the 1970's and 1980's. He was the first goalkeeper to save with his feet consistently, his clearances got a good length and his goal kicks had a great distance. Heck, he scored against Alex Stepney with one. Jenning's physical size - he was imposing despite only being six foot - allied to his calm demeanour made him a formidable opponent but a reassuring presence to his team mates. He never raved at his defenders and was as far removed as you could possibly get from Peter Schmeichel. During his time he was one of the best in one-on-one situations which invariably saved Arsenal and Spurs a lot of the time. He was incredibly agile and just flung out of the goal mouth and pretty much caught anything. In fact, he was well known for saving and catching the ball easily with one hand. He had the biggest hands I had ever seen in a goalkeeper, it made Buffons look tiny! I personally rate him as one of the great goalkeepers, sure, he's not at the same level as Yashin and Zenga. But he was bloody brilliant! _________________ GoonerLover66 wrote: PMC wrote: I know that Gooner, S-Jsomething and somebody else don't like me but pls play fair :( That's news to me, I've always liked you.
