Most players in Denmark were still only part-timers but Qvist still managed good enough to keep a spot in the national team. He was designated by coach Sepp Piontek as the first-choice keeper for the 1986 World Cup, having featured in goal in most of the qualifying campaign and the previous European Championship in France. However, he sadly fell ill with a virus affecting his vision and balance shortly before the start of the group stage and was as such forced to sit on the bench for the whole of the tournament with Troels Rasmussen stepping in his place. Qvist managed to become KB's most featured player of all time with over 500 games and his son, Lasse Qvist, is also a footballer nowadays though oddly a striker unlike his father. _________________ Don't know when and if I will be back...
