POST PLAYER* SCORING* VIDEOS: Scores a Goal, Prevents Another! Don't worry folks, I haven't forgotten about his legendary time at Sunderland. This is merely just ''Part 1'' to my 2 part Niall Quinn Classic post. Well let's start the analysis, after leaving Arsenal, Quinn developed into a true goalscoring forward. The Irish beanpole, honed his heading and goalscoring ability, thus scoring 22 goals in his first season, i.e. the 1990/1991 season. Whilst blessed with fairly decent finishing ability, Quinn lacked pace. Even at the peak of his physical ability and fitness he was slow, not George Graham slow, but nonetheless slow! But it did not matter, for he was a target man. The sort of player wingers love, just give him a cross and he'll finish it, even if it was totally inaccurate. He was just so darn tall! Not only that, but he could also hold up the ball and bring team-mates into the game. You could just play around him, which is what made his time at Manchester City so successful. But he wasn't just a great forward. Oh no! In a game against Derby in the said season Tony Coton, the Manchester City goalie, was injured and had to be taken off. Quinn, who had already scored, was put in goal as his replacement (You couldn't have goalies as subs back then!). Anyway the long and short of it is that he saved a penalty. So this is part one of my Niall Quinn stats, next time we'll look at him when he's a lot slower, but loved more! _________________ Niall QUINN | 1990-1991 | PES Stats Database (Golden Era Backup)
