He began his career at SK Jugoslavija and later moved to BASK. Ivković played 39 games for Yugoslavian national team. He was first summoned to join national team at 28/10/1925. After that he became irreplaceable player in Yugoslavian national team. He captained Yugoslavian national team at 1930 World Cup in Uruguay. Ivković was a strong defender, with excellent positioning. He had great mentality and he was a true leader on the field. He was a hard-tackling player (but always a gentleman). He played 39 games for national team. The whole team relied on him in defensive tasks. He always covered up the space behind younger and inexperienced defenders in his club and in national team. Milutinac was great in 1 on 1 duels, both on the ground and in the air. That earned him nickname The State's Break (Državna kočnica). Ivković got his medical diploma in 1934. He was executed during Second World War on 24. of May 1943, because he was a communist and most probably because he couldn't stand to watch the injustice.
