Reiziger started his career with Ajax, had a short spell with FC Volendam and FC Groningen, and went back to Ajax, where he was a part of the team that won the 1995 Champions League. In 1996 he signed for A.C. Milan, but after an injury-hit season he departed for FC Barcelona, where he spent seven seasons, winning two Spanish league championships and the Copa del Rey. In 2004 he moved to Middlesbrough F.C. on a Bosman free transfer. On August 31 2005 he moved to PSV Eindhoven after an injury-hit period on Teesside. Reiziger made his debut for the Dutch national team on October 12, 1994 against Norway. He played for his country at the Euro 96, 1998 World Cup, Euro 2000, and Euro 2004.
