His son, Manuel also played as a defender for both Real Madrid and the national team. Father and son are one of only three father and son pairs to have won European Cup/Champions League (the others are Cesare Maldini and his Paolo and Carles Busquets and his son Sergio Busquets). Football career: During his career, Sanchís represented CD Condal, Real Valladolid, Real Madrid and Córdoba CF. He was a member of the successful Madrid sides in the mid-60's that won four leagues in five years, with the addition of the 1966 Champions Cup (in this competition, he appeared 35 times for the merengues). Sanchís gained 11 caps for Spain, and represented the nation at the 1966 FIFA World Cup. During the group stages, he scored a rare goal as Spain beat Switzerland 2-1.
