Ludovico Bidoglio (5 February 1900 – 25 December 1970) was an Argentine football (soccer) defender, and one of Boca Juniors' idols. Vico made his debut with Sportivo Palermo in 1916, playing as a forward. During a match in which a fullback was injured, he had to take his place as a defender and from then on, Bidoglio would never play again in an attack position. Due to his elegant style of game, much different from strong, hard and even rude defenders, Bidoglio caught the attention of the press and the fans, soon being recognized as one of the best defenders in Argentina at that time. After playing for Eureka between 1918 and 1921, he made his debut with Boca Juniors in 1922, against Independiente. Anecdotically, because their names had not been registered yet, Independiente was called ''Juventus de Avellaneda'' and Boca ''Juventud de la Boca'' for that match. His unexpected retirement was in 1931 during a match in which Boca Juniors faced Estudiantes de La Plata. Bidoglio collided with Zozaya and was seriously injured, and left the field never to return to play. Boca went on to win the championship in 1931, meaning that Bidoglio had helped them to win the first ever professional championship in Argentina. After his retirement from football he worked as an electrician until his death in 1970. _________________ forever and always - football Ludovico BIDOGLIO | 1920-1925 | PES Stats Database (Golden Era Backup)
