Despite the fine achievement of qualifying as good enough for Piontek's 22-man squad, Nielsen's finest hour not very arguably came six years later when he in his final game for the national team helped complete one of the greatest football upsets of all time by beating Germany with 2-0 in the European Championships final. The tournament which Denmark so infamously hadn't even qualified for in the first place but entered following the boycott of Yugoslavia in the tide of the country's brutal civil war. Nielsen made an now in Denmark iconic contribution in the game when he heroically bicycle kicked an attempt from Jürgen Klinsmann away from the goal line, just as Karl-Heinz Riedle was about to tap it in. He is currently the manager at Brøndby IF after eight succesful years with AC Horsens. PS: If there are any Hammers' fans watching this, having knowledge of Kent Nielsen during his time at your club, maybe you could correct some things. But remember that this version of Kent Nielsen is six years younger than the one who played for WHUFC. _________________ Don't know when and if I will be back...
