He signed for Manchester United on leaving school in the summer of 1955 and played on the youth team's right wing. During the 1957-58 season he won himself a fixed place in the first team, at the expense of the older and more experienced Johnny Berry, and suffered minor injuries in the Munich air disaster, when still only 18 years old. He was the youngest player involved in the crash. Morgans was found unconscious amongst the debris by two journalists five hours after the official search was called off. Ivan Ponting in his book player by player makes the following obeservations....''Before the disaster Kenny was quick and clever winger who could play on either flank. At the time of the crash he was in the team on merit. He displaced Johnny Berry on the right in December, enjoyed a six week spell and come the crash looked set for a lengthy run''......He never re-captured his form after the crash. Mental scars? Too much competition? Either way a lavish talent with a promising career at the top level was cut short before it really got going. Morgans left the club in 1961, having made 23 first-team appearances without scoring a goal. He later played in the lower divisions for Swansea Town and Newport County before retiring from football in 1967.
