He played as midfielder for AC Sparta Praha and the Czechoslovak football national team. He played from 1913 to 1933, scoring 149 goals in his club career. He played mainly for AC Sparta Prague where he was the captain of the ''Iron Sparta'' of the 20's, one of the best team in Europe. He was a sensational athlete, hot-tempered with huge mentality and leadership. ''Kada'' wasn't the fastest on the field but he saw everything before the others, his positionning and intelligence were fantastic. Even if he was not the taller he possessed a solid jump and a pretty good header. He received alot of cautions due to his use of tackles in a time where they were not so much this kind of action which will be popularise later by Pluskal notably. He played 44 matches for the national team and scored one goal. Pešek was a participant in the 1920 Olympic Games and 1924 Olympic Games. At the 1920 Olympic Games he also participated in ice hockey. He was a member of the Czechoslovak ice hockey team, which won the bronze medal.
