Originally a CF, he made his breakthrough for Norway's NT as a RM. Typically Liverpool's Stig Inge Bjornebye would power a crossball from his LB position to Flo, which he again would flick to the on-coming midfielders to pounce on, Norway's main weapon in the 90's, a major reason for Norway qualifying for the WC in 94. Graham Taylor tried to negate this tactic at Ullevaal (Norway's home stadium) during the qualifiers and played Gary Pallister at LB. Flo just switched side and the rest is history, Norway won 2-0. If I remember correctly the Sun labelled Graham Taylor a turnip and even had a manipulated picture of him on their front-page as just that. Happy days Taylor was later sacked. Anyway, Jostein had a personal best in high jump of 2.08 metres (Wikipedia), his technical skills left a lot to be desired. His style was however perfectly suited to Sheffield Utd who at the time played a lot of long balls, much like the more well-known Wimbledon of the 80s and 90s. His lack of skills probably didn't help him, and although he scored a few for Sheffield Utd, his stint there lasted only three years. He later returned to Norway where he's currently a director at Stromsgodset. His brother Tore Andre Flo is probably better known, and rightly so. It seems his younger brother got all the skills in that family. _________________ Persona non grata Jostein FLO | 1993-1994 | PES Stats Database (Golden Era Backup)
