yourigo José ÁGUAS | 1962-1963 A very dedicated player, memory still remains in Benfica fans of Ã(cid:0)guas raising the ''Taça dos Clubes Campeões Europeus'' (Champions League) Club: Benfica Number: ? Position: CF Nationality: Portuguese (but place of birth is Luanda, Angola) Age: 32 in 62/63 born 9/11/1930 Foot: R Side: B Length: 181 Weight: 77 Attack:95 Defence:41 Balance:87 Stamina:82 Top Speed: 78 Acceleration:79 Response:96 Agility:82 Dribble Accuracy:81 Dribble Speed:78 Short Pass Accuracy:74 Short Pass Speed:73 Long Pass Acc.:73 Long Pass Speed:73 Shot Accuracy:87 Shot Power:86 Shot Technique:84 Free Kick Accuracy73: Curling:73 Header:97 Jump:96 Technique:80 Aggression:94 Mentality:86 Keeper Skills:50 Team Work:79 Injury Tolerance:B Condition/Fitness:7 Weak Foot Accuracy:6 Weak Foot frequency:6 Consistency:7 'Positioning 'Scoring '1-1 Score 'Post Player 'Lines '1-Touch Pass He was the expert in scoring headers. When he saw the ball coming from a cross, he had a confident look like: ''this one's already in''. His control of the ball with his head was the same as C. Ronaldo's with his feet. His jump timing was flawless A great goal-scorer both in Benfica and the National team. Died in the year 2000, at the age of 70, after being reintegrated in Benfica's staff, from wich he had been fired during Vale e Azevedo's presidency With Benfica, he won the Superliga for five times (1954/55, 1956/57, 1959/60, 1960/61, 1962/63); the Cup of Portugal seven times (consecutively from 1950/51 to 1961/62). He was also the league top scorer for five times. He saw great success in European competitions as well, winning the European Cup for two consecutive years, in 1961 (a 3-2 win in the final against FC Barcelona) and the next season (5-3 against Real Madrid). Ã(cid:0)guas was the captain of Benfica on both these occasions. Benfica failed to complete a hat-trick of wins for they were beaten 1-2 by AC Milan in the 1963 final, as this time Ã(cid:0)guas didn't play. Making his debut on 23 November 1952 in a 1-1 draw with Austria, Ã(cid:0)guas represented Portugal for 25 times, scoring 11 goals in his career. He played his last match for the national team on 17 May 1962, a 1-2 defeat to Belgium. After leaving Benfica, he played for one more season for FK Austria before retiring in 1964, aged 33. I'd appreciate any sugestions, since i am in no way an expert in this player, i'm just a fan _________________ You do ill if you praise, and still worse if you reprove in a matter you do not understand. - Da Vinci Jose AGUAS | 1962-1963 | PES Stats Database (Golden Era Backup)
