He is a very special case in the History of Sports. He was capped for his country in 2 sports at the same time. Hoquei and football, where he achieved several titles being world champion on the 1st one. Jesus Correia trained every morning Hoquei in his club, went to work (footballers were not profissionals at this age) and then went to Sporting to train. He also had 2 games at weekend and also there was a time that he played for his national team 2 days in a row for both sports. When there were international games at the same time, it was the government who decided for which sport should he represent the portuguese national squad. In the biggest colective phenomenon of portuguese football, as we know them from the late 40s, he had a role to play: to give precision, deep spaces and turn wider what became the most amazing symphonies ever played in portuguese fields. In 10 seasons in SCP, the right winger of linear processes who had his share on feeding the scoring gift of Peyroteo, played 315 times and scored the amazing number of 254 goals. One of his trademarks were his turnings to the center, from which resulted several goals and situations of numeric advantage. His professionalism and dedication to football dazed everyone, he was always a team player and never let his own magic step over the team. He had always the public by his side. He used a great ammount of speed, strenght, his capacity to gain position to cross the ball and his accurate shooting. Among his glory deeds, we recall when he scored the single goal of the 45 Cup Final after being injected 12 times before the match, and the 6 goals in the same match against Atletico Madrid (at that time, Atletico Aviacion) when Sporting CP visited Madrid to win 3-6. He only found his top shape, as a footballer, at the times he was also playing hóquei. And we are not just talking about the physical subject, which sharpened in an excellent way. It was, at the same time, the subject of technique shape, which found in hoquei an excepcional valorization parameter. His prodigal speed of reflexes was sharpened, to don’t say upgraded, by the rollerskates. And a considerable amount of his kicks, specially when he deflected to the center or left interior, were not football kicks but true hoquei shots, so close was the resemblance between the technical movement,(he didn’t bend his leg neither shooted with the front of the foot). Other times, when he moved to the center and appeared face to face with the opposite goalkeeper, he attempted, as in hoquei they do in similar situations, to pass the right leg over the ball (from the right to the left) and then shooting in a gentle touch to the right side far away from the keeper. He scored some dazed goals, truly shock breaking and surprising ones, which often motivated the comment “This was a hoquei goal! â€(cid:0). He, too, still remains as a legend forever.
