Despite his size he was not just a one-dimensional player as so many 'big men' were in the time period. A good touch and control coupled with the ability to rake passes forward brought a silky presence to the backline, enjoyed minor forays into shooting range. Genuinely Gorgoń had an uncommon wealth of promising talent, while he still forged a respectable career, it could be argued that he never fully reached his potential as one of Europes best centre halfs of that era. Spent the majority of his career with his hometown club of Górnik Zabrze managing some 236 appearances in all competitions along with 21 goals. Upon reaching the required age limit moved abroad to Swiss club FC Gallen for a final three seasons, which encompassed 78 appearances and 4 goals, before retirement. Gorgoń was a staple of Górski's Poland during the 70's, and would only see his international career come to a halt after poor displays under Jacek Gmoch in Argentina at the 1978 World Cup, at his end internationally he had scored 6 times in 55 caps.
