Although he began as a centre forward he was a flexible player, and could play also as an inside forward or on the right wing. Boniperti was named by Pele in March 2004 as one of the 125 greatest living footballers. He is the ninth-highest goalscorer of all time in the Italian Serie A. Giampiero Boniperti played for Italian giants Juventus all his life and made 444 Italian Serie A appearances between 1946 and 1961 for the Old Lady of Turin. He is currently the second top goalscorer of all-time at Juventus ( recently beaten by Alessandro Del Piero) and is sixth on the list of all-time top appearances for the club. He also holds the record for most Serie A appearances at Juventus with 444 games. Boniperti made his Serie A debut for Juve against AC Milan on March 2,1947. He scored his first goal for Juve in the league three months later against Sampdoria. He expressed his versatality to play as a right sided midfieder or as a striker. He was the top scoter in his second season at Juve, scoring 27 goals at only 20 years of age. Boniperti won his first league championship with Juventus during the 1949-50 season. He also won the scudetto in the 1951-1952 season. After years of barren-ness, he, along with John Charles and Omar Sivori (known as the Magical Trio) inspired Juve to the Serie A crown in 1957-1958, 1959-1960 and 1960-1961. Giampiero Boniperti made his international debut for Italy against Austria in 1947. He scored his first goal for his nation two years later in May 1949 against the same opposition. He played a total of 38 international matches for his nation and scored 8 goals. He retired from international football in 1960 _________________ I spent a lot of money on booze, birds and fast cars.
