Frank brought much-needed energy to the Arsenal midfield. He not only had great stamina but also incomparable levels of commitment. However it would be wrong to portray Frank as merely a mdifield workhorse. He was a player of considerable skill, too, and possessed all the technique needed to become a top-class attacking midfielder. His stamina was prodigious, his control effortless and his passing both accurate and economical; add to that an eye for goal and excellent heading ability, and you have a footballer of considerable talent. An injury crisis in the 1969/1970 season left Arsenal with problems in defence and, as had so often been the case, Don Howe found an inspired solution. Howe asked Frank to move back to centre half and, after initial reticence, he agreed. His passion and his preparedness to get hurt were perhaps his greatest attributes as a player. He was an extrodinary captain and is just as vocal, if not more so, than Tony Adams. He was easily one of Arsenal's best defenders ever, and that's a compliment considering we've had the likes of David O'Leary, Steve Bould, Sol Campbell and Peter Simpson. _________________ GoonerLover66 wrote: PMC wrote: I know that Gooner, S-Jsomething and somebody else don't like me but pls play fair :( That's news to me, I've always liked you.
