His ball winning abilities despite his diminutive size and his excellent technique and eye for a pass was has his stand out abilities. His technical abilities had no match in Norway at the time, watching him play was an aesthetic pleasure and he's the only player from his country who has had a film made about him. His popularity was not only down to his footballing skills, Mykland smoked and drank, most famously under the WC in 98 when Henning Berg and Mykland found the time to go to a bar and knock down a few pints The incident caused an uproar, but as Mykland earlier said: ''I'm not an athlete, I'm a footballer'', who could be surprised? His career took of at IK Start in Norway, but he left when the team got relegated in 1996. After two quick spells at Utrech and LASK Linz, he spent three seasons at Panathinaikos and later moved to 1860 München where he spent only one season. He then moved to FC Copenhagen where he quickly became a favourite among the fans. He spent the final years of his career there, and called it quits in 2004. Or so it seemed, last week Mykland announced that he'd return to the game if he could get his fitness to a suitable level. He's now training with IK Start, and we'll see if he can make a comeback. I certainly hope so, my favourite Norwegian player of all times. _________________ Alan Hansen wrote: How come Liverpool games are on last at the moment?
