He was, however, more than just a showman. He worked hard, played with discipline and did his defensive work. But when it was time to play, nobody played better than David. There was an impishness about his football that instantly endeared him to the Arsenal crowd. A shimmy one way, a feint the other, a little drag-back to put his opponent on his backside and David was away with the North Bank cheering and his grounded adversary cursing. In an Arsenal team renowned for its defensive obduracy, the dazzling dribbling skills of this perfectly balanced sportsman shone like a beacon. David was a very strong, athletic, unselfish player who had a brilliant work ethic. There were many fantastic moments where he would beat players, but a lot of the time he held the ball up for other players to run into space. And with his great passing, his playmaking made sure that it could lead to a goalscoring opportunity. He was incredible loyal and one of the hard working players of that period. He was tactically astute and could read the game well. The unfortunate thing is that he was overlooked due to another player similar to him, Paul Gascogine. But still he was loved by many across the country, and would easily be one of the best if he was playing in the modern day. May he be playing well in God's First Team XI _________________ GoonerLover66 wrote: PMC wrote: I know that Gooner, S-Jsomething and somebody else don't like me but pls play fair :( That's news to me, I've always liked you.
