There were high hopes for his play during the 1986 World Cup, but he only played the first game. It wasn't for a bad game, he has ''bad luck'' of playing in the same position of Diego Armando Maradona, one of the best players in the history of football. In Argentinos Juniors, the club where he was born, takes part in the squad that won the Libertadores Cup in the year 1985, earning the right to play the Intercontinental Cup in Japan, against the mighty Juventus, with Michael Laudrup and Michel Platini, among others. At the end Claudio Borghi was the great figure of the game, though the Argentine team fall in the penalty shootout. After the WC, was transferred to European football, just to AC Milan, in which squad could not play the 87/88 season by having the full quota of foreigners. From there he went on loan to Como, and several European clubs. Finally, he returned to South American football, River Plate, Huracan, Colo Colo of Chile, Unión de Santa Fe, Flamengo of Brazil, Club Atlético Independiente and Platense (among others) in Argentina and subsequently returned to Chile, where he could shine in Audax Italiano, O'Higgins and Santiago Wanderers, the club where he retired. _________________ Claudio BORGHI | 1985-1986 | PES Stats Database (Golden Era Backup)
