With Cruz Azul he became a true legend, as he scored 168 goals in only 6 seasons, an average of 28 goals per season! He was mainly known for his intimidanting physique, his positional sense on the field and his great headers, relying mostly in his strenght and accuracy than his leap. Another one of his main assets was his sacrifice for the team, as he'd rather sometimes make a short assist to some other attacker instead of scoring himself, in what he was proven to be a specialist. When he retired, in 2002, a tribute match was made. They called it ''Hermosillo and friends'', filling an exhibition squad that contained no others than Jurgen Klinsman and Diego Armando Maradona himself.
