He was a natural ball player with sublime control, a sweet body swerve, strong and packed a poweful shot. With his strength he could take on all comers. United had a bright new star. His first season was a success and he scored the 3rd goal in the 1968 European Cup Final against Benfica, United had a bright new star on their hands. Kiddo had arrived. Then with the team ageing around him, Kidd's career went into a slide. He did not mature initially and under boss Tommy Docherty his game suffered. In August 1974 he moved to Arsenal where he regained form. He then went onto Man City, Everton and the NASL where he scored consistently. Later Brian Kidd would return as Alex Ferguson's assistant and oversee the rise of Giggs, the Nevilles, Scholes, Beckham, Butt and a host of future stars as United rose to prominence in the 90's. Kiddo's potential had paid off just not in the way first expected.
