In every way complete player (although some people remember him just as great free-kick taker and goalscorer). He had very good understanding of the game, and due to that fact he didn't just score, he also send very good crosses to the box. He always pointed out that he tried to play rationally, without unnecessary complications. Although his primary position was winger, he scored 539 goals in 580 matches during his 14 years stay at Red Star Belgrade (only in Yugoslavian league he scored 158 goals in 258 matches). He was Yugoslavian league top scorer two years in a row (1958/1959 - 25 goals and 1959/1960 - 19 goals). He scored 6 goals against NK Zagreb in 1956. In half final game of Danube Cup, against Locomotive Sofia, he scored 4 goals. On 2nd July 1959, Red Star Belgrade played against Dinamo Moscow and Kostić scored 3 goals (one from 35-40m free-kick). Goalkeeper for Dinamo was some guy called... Lev Yashin ( stated that Kostić was the toughest opponent he had. ). Yashin later Experts in ex-Yugoslavia calculated that when Bora Kostić hits the ball, it reaches speed of 100-120 km/h. Other then pure power and accuracy, Kostić had another great shooting quality, his curling ability. He would hit the ball with the inside, top part of his shoe, and the ball would get fantastic speed and curve. Due to his specific way of shooting, he now doesn't have a single nail on his left foot . In national team he was ''overlooked'' too many times. Despite that, he managed to score 26 goals in 33 appearances. He participated in the 1960 European Nations' Cup where Yugoslavia won 2nd place.
