During the years Auld was excellent, top-class player, always giving his best, but he had problems with his behavior on the field. Until he joined Celtic for the second time in 1965, he often fight on the field, or argue with the referee. When he joined Celtic in 1965, he was still problematic player, but not as nearly close as he was in Birmingham City. Source: guardian.co.uk Quote: Far more impressive fisticuffs occurred back in 1963, pre-dating the advent of the red card, when St Andrews played host to a fiery encounter between Birmingham winger Bertie Auld and Fulham's Johnny Haynes. Chris Ferns takes up the story: ''If memory serves, Haynes fouled Auld, who was legendary for his temper, and was promptly knocked out in retaliation. Auld then flattened another Fulham player who tried to intervene, rendering him unconscious as well. The upshot was that both Auld and Haynes were sent off, the latter via a stretcher.'' I think his stats didn't change much during those 8 years, except switching positions and gaining better organizational and ball holding skills (he successfully took penalties at Birmingham City, but I can't find any evidence that he did the same at Celtic). Maybe it's strange for a CMF to have such Acceleration or Agility, but he really was that quick. Keep in mind that in 1966/1967 season he gained new task at Celtic as *CMF (DMF, AMF), and he quickly showed new skills during that season. I had a privilege to watch European Cup Final video against Inter, and in that game one can clearly see that whenever he gets the ball, he does something new, something unexpected for Inter players. And although Inter defends with 10 players, he almost always finds a crack in their defense (whether he sends accurate long pass to Gemmell or quickly accelerates and shots on goal, he's always a threat for Inter).
