Sportinguista of heart, Inácio would also play in FC Porto, serving in Antas with an undeniable professionalism, but never renouncing his sportinguismo, so he eventually returned home, to be champion as coach and put an end to 18 years without a single champion’s title. Inácio debut for Sporting’s main team with 20 years. It was in 1975 in the 5th round of the Cup of Portugal. In the game in Coimbra, against Académica, the April 5th, Ignatius played only 3m replacing Fernando Tomé with the outcome already in 4-1 (marked for Sporting, Fernando Tomé for 36m, 62m and to Joaquim Dinis Yazalde to 76M and 86m). It was the only time this season that Inácio played due to strong competition from Manaca and Fernando Tomé for the right wing and Carlos Pereira and Baltasar to the left. However, in the squad in the following season there would be a huge revolution, with Yazalde, Alhinho, Dinis and Vagner, all relevant players, leaving the squad, entering Manuel Fernandes, José Mendes, Amândio, Valter and Manoel. Sporting had the worst campaign ever in the Championship, but Inácio began to play regularly in the main team, both as the right back as for left back. His debut (in the Portuguese Championship) was on September 7th, 1975 in Matosinhos in the match against Leixoes (0-0). At that time, Inácio align in 26 games, added all competitions. At the end of the season 81/82 he mooved to FC Porto, but never tried to hide his sportinguismo. He defended the colors of his club with an undeniable professionalism, between 1982 and 1989, 157 games, 2 goals scored. With FC Porto he won 3 National Championships, 2 Cups of Portugal, 3 Super Cups, 1 Champions League, 1 European Super Cup, 1 Intercontinental Cup, being connected to those years of glory. Emphasis on his international career. Portuguese international on 25 occasions (4 while in Sporting and 21 in FC Porto) and was present at Euro 84, where he didn’t play, and in the World Cup of 86, where he played all the 3 games that Portugal made against England (1-0), Poland (0 -1) and Morocco (1-3). After this competition, withdrew from the National team. He withdrew from football in 1989 and followed the career of coach. _________________ ''My heart only has one colour: Blue and White!! João D.
