Not. Ali Dia was apparently a former PSG and Bologna player. He had come to Southampton with a recommendation from PSG legend George Weah, and had been his striking partner. He had also player for Senegal, getting 13 caps and scoring twice in their last game. Suitably impressed, Soton manager Graeme Souness put him on the bench against Leeds United without watching him play. But when he was brought on, Dia seemed a little out of his depth, lacking, well, anything at all really. He missed an open goal 15 minutes into his debut and was subbed back off again immediately afterwards. Then the truth came out. Dia was no international, no recommendations from George Weah. Far from being an ex Bologna and PSG player, Dia was an ex-Blyth Spartans player, and he hadn't scored for them either. Mind you, at least he was a world class hoaxer. Since that fateful day, Dia has achieved legendary status as one of the worst players of all time. Ali DIA | 1996-1997 | PES Stats Database (Golden Era Backup)
